Dear Friends,

On July 23rd, we celebrate the 10-year anniversary of NYC Bodypainting Day! Then on September 23rd, we celebrate our 20th worldwide Bodypainting Day on the Greek island of Crete.

These are the final Bodypainting Days. After that, we are retiring the event.

It started out in Columbus Circle in 2014 and quickly spread to San Francisco, Amsterdam and cities throughout Europe.

Bodypainting Day has shocked, inspired and empowered participants and the public.

It challenged people to contemplate the role of public art, the use of the public square for human connection and addressed shame associated with the human body.

We have painted people of all ages and genders, large and small, people who use wheelchairs, people with cancer and the full range of people taking on body acceptance issues.

Bodypainting Day has been a bold and powerful statement of acceptance.

After 10 years, it is time to explore new ways of connecting and building a community where people are open to other points of view and able to share without fear their own thoughts and beliefs.

This year’s theme is the Voice of the Artist. As I have often said, the role of the artist is an essential component of a healthy society.

Apply now for the final NYC Bodypainting Day, and Crete Bodypainting Day!

We are arranging a series of video interviews for people to share their stories, participating in or witnessing Bodypainting Day over the years. Sign up to be interviewed here.

If you would like to discuss future projects of Human Connection Arts, or if you have ideas or insights that you would like to share, you can reach us here.
